I have long said that the "ex-gay" fraud is nothing more than a ruse to trick Americans into beleiveing homosexuality is a casual choice so they will oppose gay rights. Ex-gay leader Alan Chambers of Exodus International pretty much proved my point with this quote on Lifesite:
"Our existence as ex-gays is additional proof that homosexuality is not an immutable trait and therefore, marriage is not a civil right to be extended to any group of individuals who demand it."

Hmmm.... That is the Hellenvolk Democracy in action there with Chamber's statement. Hellenvolk announced that no blacks had rights that a white man was obligated to respect. Chambers, is an example of resignation to bigotry. Segregationists were able to find blacks who renounced integration, even slavery. It's no surprise that Chambers and every ex gay represents people who strain to uphold heterosexual privilege by any means necessary. Ex gay is a misnomer, these are inauthentic heterosexuals. These are recloseted gay people. In their place, where heterosexuals like them. As Muslims become a majority in Western Europe, and commit to their moral certitude with violence, I wonder for how long would the Christian mullahs maintain their own backbone for their chosen lifestyle. Or for that matter, if Jehovah's Witnesses who consider blood donation taboo (and it's has risks) went into political action to say no other person could receive blood or tissue donation-how long would THAT be tolerated? Chambers isn't concerned with equal justice and protection for EVERYONE. Just the Pharisees he's aligned himself with. He's cowed by hetero hostility, and calls it moral. There was never anything moral about cowardice and highjacking the laws of men to save one's own ass.

By the way- Gay folks don't represent marriage for 'any group who demands it'. Gay people are the ONLY group who cannot marry each other. And no other group is demanding marriage. Any other issue that might come up would be a matter of redundancy (already married or already closely related, so therefore already protected) or a matter of consent ( minors, inanimate objects or animals). So far, no other reps of those issues has come out in force and challenged the courts and society at large on the scale of gays and lesbians everywhere in the world. Another reason to see Chambers for the asshole he is.

I came out of the conservative Christian lifestyle, which I participated in for a brief time during my late teens. Therefore, change is possible. Therefore, Christians don't deserve civil rights based on that mutable trait...
I don't mind people trying to reconcile their sexuality and religion as best they can, but I mind tremendously when they act like they've got a literally God-given mandate to make life as difficult as they can for those who make other choices.
