I've been screaming this from the roof tops for months and now the proof is in. Alan Chambers, head of the ex-gay ministries is going after young people.
"anyone who's smart these days would focus on the young because the truth is those who influence the young influence the future."
According to the Christian Post, Chambers plans to launch a nationwide campaign to brainwash the young, their parents, and youth workers through distributing literature on campuses, and by having three sets of conferences: one for the youth, one for their parents and youth workers, and one for pastors.
"Our nation's young people should understand what is healthy sexuality, understand why homosexuality isn't healthy for them," said Chambers, "and at the same time, understand what's good about sex."
It is time our major gay organizations wake up and counter this threat. If five years from now youth support for gay rights takes a nosedive, don't say that I didn't tell you so. Let's fight back and not allow the far right to indoctrinate tomorrow's leaders.

Yes, a counterattack is clearly the thing to do. Shower young people in the truth about ex-gay therapy (it's bad for you. Like greasy food but not as filling.)
Free Z was made with that in mind, and the free availability of it seems to work: I still get e-mails from people saying "I'm still in the closet, but I'm going to spread them all over my school because people need to know."
Zach Stark's site blew up after his situation was revealed. His peers and friends who left posts in support were all colors and genders and it lifted my heart to see it. 'You must be carefully taught.' as the song goes. Chambers wants to teach this to what he considers blank and fertile fields. There are some very young children who have already been raised up with gay siblings, aunts or uncles or grandparents. Some very little children already have it right, and he'd better not underestimate their intelligence to challenge his crap. If only because children do ask mind stumping questions based on the simplest standard of logic. And Chambers will have to lie. And lying, especially to the young, is why this mess is still with us now.

Don't expect anything from the Beltway gay organizations. They aren't listening. They're no more meaningful than the MSM.

We do indeed have an uphill battle to fight on this one. Only this morning, I was reading a column in one of the local newspapers wherein a rabbi and catholic priest answer questions from readers on various religious issues. One of the readers, a young gay man with a partner said his parents had set down what they will and will not accept of their open gay son that included excluding his partner from any family function. The two clerics responded that although they have friends who are gay, "biblically homosexuality is a disordered state". This is what is fuelling these ex-gay ministries. Immediately I fired off a missive taking these two bigots to task. We all have to be vigilant and fight these sickos back with the same ammunition they aim at us. No longer can we be complacent.
Robert from Bayside, I couldn't agree more about confronting these religous bigots. I have written quite a few letters to these awful people but results have not been favourable. I would like to face them head on because I am a confident speaker and can debate effectively, but have not yet had the opportunity to face them. I am certainly chomping at the bit for the opportunity though. I don't know about your situation, but I am frustrated with my gay friends and acquaintances who are complacent to this stuff. There is a big lack of cohesiveness in the gay community that is really going to hurt us in the long run, even in Canada. As we speak, these religous organizations are spending thousands on strategies to defeat gay marriage and any other rights and dignities that we have achieved. This will happen here if we get a neo-con government and the gay community must be prepared as the US gay community has been caught short handed by the dangerous am-taliban. To me, there is no issue more important than this one to any gay or lesbian in the world. Make no mistake, the threat is real. Tim W.

Yes, let's indoctrinate them ourselves.

Tim W.: Tim, so far, I have not receive a response from the two clerics I recently contacted, but not surprised. I think I hit a very raw nerve since I was not that polite but threw back all of the references to heterosexual behavior condemned in the bible that by far outweigh any of the very scant references to homosexuality. Its amazing how these people cherry pick references in the bible to suit their own agenda, but deliberately avoid references attributed to them in a very unpositive manner. If they all practiced what the bible preached, there would be no marriage as we know it, among other things. Stay vigilant, Tim, and stay in touch.
