Wade Richards was an "ex-gay" who rocked the right wing when he came out of the closet and said these groups are a sham. He has started a new group, Stand Out!, to support and enrich the self-esteem of young gay people by exploring the issues of self-reflection, diversity, and politics. His group is also encouraging, training, and mobilizing them and their allies to be a voice of awareness in their generation. This is a worthy cause, so consider supporting his efforts.

Kurt, you're being duplicitous again! You are narrowly spotlighting a particular quote from an EX-ex-gay because it seems to suit your agenda, but you are ignoring his main message, which is that ex-gay ministries change no one. He has called them a "fraud".

I have interviewd Mr. Richards at length. He meant the ex-gay ministries helped him the same way cancer helps people appreciate living. This does not mean cancer is healthy, nor is the ex-gay charade good for people.
If you haven't noticed, Mr. Richards fights against the ex-gay myth. He thinks it is a fraud, so much so, he started a group to counter such demeaning and destructive efforts.

This is a great idea and Wade is to be commended for overcoming the brainwashing antics of people who exploit another's vulnerabilty for financial and political gain. I wish him every success and have every confidence he will gain support very quickly. The ex-gay charade is starting to fade very quickly.
