According to the excellent blog, Pam's House Blend, "ex-gay" big mouth Stephen Bennett, had this reaction to Willie Nelson's song on the Brokeback Mountain CD:

"I think Willie Nelson's braids are pulled too tight," Bennett says. The ministry leader suspects Nelson is just taking advantage of the "gay western" fad. "I don't understand why everybody is jumping on the bandwagon of homosexuality," says Bennett. "It is like the 'in thing' today. And, of course, with this movie Brokeback Mountain, everybody is jumping in now to do what they can to capitalize on this newest, latest fad that people are accepting."

So, Willie Nelson, a household name, needs to capitalize on Brokeback Mountain? Maybe I'm wrong, but I think Willie's career was doing quite fine before the movie.

I'm a huge fan of Willie Nelson!
I heard critics from the RR complain that this American music icon's 1981 song was used in the movie, as if not by permission.
Then Willie writes a new song that exemplifies exactly what cowboy love really is.
Take THAT, RR!

WN is clearly showing his love and support for gay folks out there.
And we should thank him for it too.


BTW, Stephen Bennett has been trying to sell his own Christian based songs and I doubt he can.
Sour grapes perhaps?

Geeze Bennet,Willie Nelson only wrote 1 song for the movie's ending credits, and I would'nt call it jumping on the bandwagon to see this movie, I've seen it a few times and belive it actuly gives people a understanding of what some homosexuals have to put up with in life from people like you.

What an idiot!, he should be taken better care of that hair and maind his own bussiness... I use to get mad, but when I show what this MF's say, we actually laugh real hard!

Willie's song is a cute little ditty.

Yet for a "gay parody country & western" song it will never do better or shock more people than Jim Stafford's "My girl Bill" did in the mid-70s.

Instead of calling these people "ex-gays", I think faux-heterosexuals is better, or fauxhettes for short.

Willie Nelson is a sweet man and has always had a unique place in country music. Stephen Bennett on the other hand, is a pathetic, self-hating imbecile who desperately wants people to believe he is a hetero. Not a chance, sorry Stephen you need to spend more time with James Dobson in some hetero lessons dude.

i coming from Singapore,To a person 團體制服here.
I was an excellent credit咖啡 staff.Many well-known in the credit 徵信社company to work, and excellent credit 徵信performance.
I love this job;I work brought endless fun.I hope that the formal減肥I appreciated the boss .I hope to continue to work in the credit徵信.
I work seriously,Peaceful coexistence with colleagues.The company has no particular request, 徵信社I can only hope that the wisdom I 燈光音響play.
