A scary op-ed in USA Today by Phillip Longman suggests that conservatives are outbreeding everyone. This may end the Enlightenment, stop evolution of the species and enrich televangelists. According to the article:
What's the difference between Seattle and Salt Lake City? There are many differences, of course, but here's one you might not know. In Seattle, there are nearly 45% more dogs than children. In Salt Lake City, there are nearly 19% more kids than dogs.
This curious fact might at first seem trivial, but it reflects a much broader and little-noticed demographic trend that has deep implications for the future of global culture and politics. It's not that people in a progressive city such as Seattle are so much fonder of dogs than are people in a conservative city such as Salt Lake City. It's that progressives are so much less likely to have children.
Gay men, find yourself a lesbian today and have lot's of kids, or the entire nation will soon turn into Utah. (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

Don't worry. Factor in the law of averages and statistics and there is bound to be a lot more gays in Salt Lake City than in Seattle. Even ultra-orthodox Mormons have gay babies.
They may be more closeted but they are here in Utah.

I wouldn't worry about it either, great they're having more kids who will grow up and reject the bullshit their parents raised them with just like we did. No big woop. Besides, the real demographic shift in this country is the growing number of hispanics.

The evangelicals or fundmentalists can have as many kids as they want.
A certain percentage will always be born gay.
When the fundies have gay children they will be forced to deal intelligently with the gay issue and we all win.
