Three morons were arrested for setting nine Baptist churches on fire in rural Alabama. The boys called it a joke that spun out of control, but no one is laughing. If there is such thing as karma, these young men will be sent to the showers in a Faith-Based prison. Now, THAT would be funny.
Okay, let's address the big pink elephant in the room. Two of the three boys were both somewhat attractive AND heavily involved in theatre. Most actors are heterosexual, so this doesn't mean much. But, let's be honest, people are discussing the possibility that the arsonists just MIGHT be gay. I certainly hope not - but people are whispering that this may be the case.
Your thoughts?

Let's be frank.
Let's assume that these young men were part-time Focus on the family office staffers working on anti-gay projects, two theatre majors, one pre-med. If you found out that these men liked to regularly go out in the woods together, and that the pre-med guy called one of the other guys "mi amor", which might you be tempted to think?
I hope the truth comes out either way, but I hope these men aren't gay. Two of them are Satanists (and it's a free country with freedom of religion, so they should be able to practice it), and all three are very foolish. Hate to see GLBT people linked with the latter two groups.
Now, how will the churches and their leaders receive (and forgive?) these young men?

If they are gay (Goddess forbid) i'm sure the religious right will make hay with it and use it as an excuse for more persecution of ALL glbt persons. While any moral sane person abhors violence, it's amazing how LITTLE violence has come from the gay community considering what has been done TO us. Besides the Stonewall riots, the only other violence from a crowd of homosexuals that i can remember was the 'night of gay rage' in san franciso when the guy who murdered the mayor and harvey milk got off with a slap on the writst. All things considered, we should be proud of our restraint.

Can't argue with you anon. Nobody was IN these churches as they burned.
And it's true, when it's all said and done, very little collective violence, where someone straight was deliberately brutalized to make a point, has come from gay people.
Which is why Christian claims of restrictions on their speech or political access ring hollow. No one gay says that the religious can't be so. It's a stretch, a real stretch to think these fires are motivated by anything than what these humps say they are. Religious people, Christians in particular just aren't interesting enough and are well protected in this country. These boys WILL have the full extent of the law thrown at them. Gay folks haven't sunk that low when it comes to protest and visibility, no matter how justified. After all, nobody has burned Fred Phelp's Westboro Church, now have they?
And gay folks are right to be able to protest when honesty or suspicion about their orientation is a mortal prospect.

I will rather safely predict that nothing will happen to them other than a warning and probation...I lived in Bama for 6 years....they are students at a liberal Methodist University and their white asses will be their salvation.......a v foolish juvenile prank...DS N.J.
