The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission thinks they are the Taliban. They raided a slew of bars arresting patrons for being drunk. They did it under the guise of preventing drunk driving. However, this explanation is questionable considering they busted people drinking at a hotel bar where they were staying.

"Going to a bar is not an opportunity to go get drunk," TABC Capt. David Alexander said. "It's to have a good time but not to get drunk."

That's news to me. When I want to get drunk, a bar usually sounds like a pretty good place to do so.

With right wing conservatives in control of the state, is this a back door attempt at Prohibition? There seems to be no other explanation of why they arrested people at their hotel who had no intention of driving.

I think most people on this board are pretty well aware of the fact that conservatives aren't just happy to assert their philosophy in their own personal lives. They want to control everything and everyone, and when they can't, they throw a temper tantrum. It's a sure sign of emotional immaturity and insecurity.

The police tried this same thing a few years ago in Northern Virginia. Needless to say, it raised a lot of hackles.

WTF !!??

It gets harder and harder to hold my head up everyday as an American ... and its damn near impossible while living in Texas.

What next Mind Control Squads - we'll be arrested for *thinking* about getting drunk.
