A member of Congress says President George W. Bush may have committed a crime if he authorized the leak of classified information to a reporter. Rep. Maurice Hinchey, D-N.Y., said Thursday if Libby's testimony is true, the case goes "much deeper" than the CIA leak.
"The heart and motive of this case is about the deliberate attempt at the highest levels of this administration to discredit those who were publicly revealing that the White House lied about its uranium claims leading up to the war," said Hinchey on his Web site. Hinchey said Bush may have "knowingly lied about uranium to the Congress, which is a crime."

Let's compare lies.
"I did not have sex with that woman." = impeachment.
Knowingly lying to the American people to start a war costing thousands of lives = re-election.

Sam, I'm kinda perplexed about the who impeachment vs re-election thing too... Who would've thought getting a BJ could cause bigger uproar than lying to the entire country.

Seriously, people, don't get your hopes up on this one. There's nothing here that's going to be worth pursuing.
Given what Bush was authorized by pre-existing (to his presidency) law to do on this "leak" his actions were as astounding as a local police chief authorizing an arrest.

The American people DON'T CARE. They have come to expect so little from their politicians that they greet these things with a shrug. This president is an abomination, but the electorate isn't much better.

I heard a pundit on the radio yesterday say that after being bullied by the bush admin and the repukelikkans for so long, the Dems are almost like an abused wife who wont fight back and extricate herself even when she can. I think that analogy has merit. The next 60s style revolution is coming!!!!!!! Neocons can spin but they cannot hide, nor win!!!!!!! B. Queer

It wasn't long ago that the Republicans were enjoying calling President Clinton "Slick Willy". It seems more than evident today that President Bush and his mouthpiece minions have far advanced the art of "well it depends on what the meaning of is, is".
This is the same President who campaigned as a man of principles who would restore honor to the White House. There's a limit to the amount of doublespeak that the American public will accept...recent polling indicates this administration has far exceeded that threshold.
