Palm Beach County's school board is under fire for blocking access to the Web sites of LGBT rights groups while allowing sites advocating the so-called ex-gay movement to go unfiltered.
This is absolutely disgraceful and typical of a right wing that can't win on facts, so they must suppress and shut down the truth. I also think that the school district is opening itself up to a lawsuit, since all respected mental health organizations say ex-gay ministries are destructive. If a child gets caught up in these groups because of the Palm Beach school board, they should be taken to court for harming the child.

Why on earth would a public school district be linking to "religious" organizations? And particularly ones with a rather pointed press service that has never had any difficulty both stretching and ignoring the truth.

Kevin, what they probably mean is that the school internet access doesnt block religious/homophobic sites, but does block sites in support of GLBT youth, which is, of course, unconscionable. Our (public) library has filters on the PCs in the children's section which only block porn sites. The next thing these backwards assholes will want to block are science sites about evolution or human sexuality including contraception.

I thought I might run this by you and post it when it comes to contentions like this. That a religious view, trumps other's choices and identities and ability to function productively in society.
Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in accepting blood, organ or tissue donation. Let's say JW's were allowed to have influence over other kids in school and bring whatever materials. A youngster (perhaps he's 18, and has majority for his own decisions) takes the same choice and is in a car accident, and because he's taken that belief, refuses vital blood transfusion and dies. If the root of his belief is firmly in the school allowing this mindset to impose on public school students, would parents allow this to influence students? I think not.
The thing is, gay kids aren't trying to convert anyone into another gay person. They aren't peddling a faith, but the reality of their lives and the need to socialize and express themselves freely and honestly without being punished for it.
And being gay isn't a religious choice, or choice at all and religious choice isn't imposed or enforced by the government. So why should any religious group get treated as if it IS their job to police and enforce anti gay issues ONLY?
Let's just say, religious people don't and can't act logically or fairly...and a school IS supposed to. Your thoughts?

Acceptable for school children:
"Homosexual behavior is no different than tobacco or alcohol abuse. All have serious emotional and physical consequences." - TVC
"About 80% of gays (see Table) admit to licking and/or inserting their tongues into the anus of partners and thus ingesting medically significant amounts of feces. Those who eat or wallow in it are probably at even greater risk. In the diary study, 70% of the gays had engaged in this activity--half regularly over 6 months." -life and liberty ministries
Non acceptable for school children:
"Fair, accurate and inclusive media images shatter stereotypes. They prove that we are connected through common, human experiences" - GLAAD
"The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network strives to assure that each member of every school community is valued and respected regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity/expression." - GLSEN
Yeah, that school board really has it's priorities in place. Jeez.
Timothy, you reminded me of an experience I had with Focus on the Family when I asked what their problem was with gay folks.
Their answer came by way of an email that listed at least fifty presumed sexual practices by gay men and a few lesbians, such as you have posted above. Their email was just as graphic and loaded with so called statistics.
I was pissed and complained to their outreach section that their response could have been accessed by a child in my home and I didn't ask such questions, so why did they answer me in such a way? They never explained themselves-didn't even apologize. They just said that their information was the truth.
On their best bragging days, my gay friends have never and wouldn't discuss such behavior. I sincerely doubt a gay person would confide this to anyone in FOTF and a therapist isn't allowed to.
I suspect that they didn't trust me to believe them unless they used such heavy handed tactics to make their point.
Because when it's all said and done, the rest of us still don't have to be concerned even about THIS behavior even if it were true, and behind closed doors.
The FOTF is more preoccupied with gay men, than gay men are. What's that tell ya?

I had the same thought Regan, when I read this. Where do they get these stats. about gays and rimming?; unless, of course many of the assholes at the receiving end of these forked gay tongues are the ones at 'life and liberty ministries'. The religious right does seem to have an unhealthy and unnatural obsession with scat! B. Queer

These statistics cant be true, most gay men are too clean and well groomed to have dirty butts, it's the redneck fundos who have the scatological behinds. The fact that they would even make all this 'shit' up and post it on the web shows how nasty they are.
