Lance Bass, the former 'N Sync stud, reveals that he is gay, in an interview with People Magazine.
"The thing is, I'm not ashamed – that's the one thing I want to say," he explains of his decision to come out. "I don't think it's wrong, I'm not devastated going through this. I'm more liberated and happy than I've been my whole life. I'm just happy."
Isn't coming out a beautiful thing? Congratulations to Lance and we wish him the best of luck and much happiness.

Frankly, I don't think the young girls who listened to Nsync would have cared one way or the other if he was gay. That is the saddest part, his fear that his sexuality could be a career killer for his friends as well as him.

not that I don't wish the young man the best of luck with his life out of the closet, but I'm going to have to go with the duh! on this one.

No offence to Lance or anyone else, but my gaydar had worked overtime on this one. Back several years ago NSync had done a video, I can't remember which it was, where as they sang their clothes kept changing. That was when I first noticed Lance. I turned to a friend of mine and said, "You see that blondish guy there? I think he's gay." And it turns out I was right!

I guess I must be the most cynical bitch in the world, because all I see is a desperate ploy to extend his and his boyfriend’s fifteen minutes of fame.
I’m so tired of celebrities who come out of the closet long after there’s any chance of personal risk. How can you say you’re not ashamed to be gay when you stay in the closet just so your boy band can reach platinum record status by selling to gullible pre-teens?
This isn’t some television star from the 60’s. This is a young, gay man who sold out his sexuality for money and fame. How many “girlfriends” has he bearded over the years to keep the allusion of an all-straight band running? Did they have to have a special hand choreographer to keep his wrists from limping up?
I’m so waiting for the celebrity who has the guts to stand up for their kind when they’re at the top of their game. Then I'll muster up the energy to give a crap.

This was about as shocking as Ellen coming out. It was almost like a negative shock. I've read a lot of comments on various sites where people are tripping over themeselves to congratulate Lance on coming out and having a hot boyfriend. So let me pile on.
Congratulations on your paycheck from People, Lance! It's so courageous of you to come out of the closet three years after anyone cared about who you were. It was so brave of you to acknowledge your sexuality when it was the least risky for you, when it the most convenient for you. Had you come out when you were selling millions of records, it might have made an impact, but to me it just looks like your cashing in to score a magazine cover and remind everybody that once upon a time, you used to be famous.
The conflict of the middle east will be resolved as a result?, or will the USA finally undestand that homosexuality is normal, natural and according with God's love? is cure for AIDS going to come faster as a result?...no? ok, let me know when something important happen.

I'm not exactly thrilled by the news, although it should be recalled that he was fairly young back when he had his name in lights. It's easy to be intimidated at that age, and easy to kid yourself, e.g.: 'It's just a phase I'll grow out of.' or 'I'm really mostly straight, or at least bi.' or 'I've had more sex with girls than guys, so I can't be gay.' etc., etc.
What always galls me is when someone old enough to know better like George Michael gets thrown out of the closet by being arrested in a 'tearoom', or gets in a similar jam; then announces to the (yawning) world that they're coming out.
Suddenly, people whose contact with gays was limited to rent boys smuggled into their dressing room or hotel suite expect to be welcomed with open arms by gays. Phooey!

Frankly, I am not surprised by Lance coming out of the closing. After hearing stories about members of other boybands coming out (like that guy from Boyzone), you could expect something like that to happen.

I think it is pretty sad how some criticize stars when they do comeout. No one should be forced out, everyone comes out through different circumstances.Yeah it would be nice for someone who is on top of their game to comeout, but what does it matter? No matter how a person chooses to comeout they should be treated with respect, don't forget it was hard for you too.

actually ellen came out at the top of her game when she starred on ellen. So she took a big risk coming out on national television.
