We all knew deep down that Mel Gibson was a homophobic anti-Semite with a psychotic view of Jesus and a "passion" for booze. But even his critics never knew he was even worse than they had suspected.

On Friday, the dark-hearted drunkard was arrested for slushing behind the wheel by Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies in Malibu. On his way to the hoose gow, he spewed the most disgusting and bigoted remarks imaginable against Jews. Very much like his Holocaust denying father, Mel spit out stereotypes and hate speech, possibly ending his infamous career.

"It's a nuclear disaster for him," said publicist Michael Levine, who has represented Michael Jackson and Charlton Heston, among others. "I don't see how he can restore himself."

According to the report, in addition to threatening the arresting deputy and trying to escape, Gibson said, "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world," and asked the officer, James Mee, "Are you a Jew?" The report has not been made public, but the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday that it had independently verified its authenticity.

Even more disturbing was that so many Americans saw the Passion of the Christ and actually found it spiritually redeeming. It was a religious Rocky movie with nauseating amounts of violence and a clearly Anti-Semitic subplot. The Jews in the movie all had noses the size of bananas and looked sinister. And the amount of blood that spilled was more suitable for a "Friday the 13" movie - yet people brought their children. The fact that so many people found such a horrible and sadistic depiction of religion to be uplifting, says a lot about the state of conservatism in America. If Mel Gibson is your religious icon, I can only feel deep pity for you.

The lame spin they're putting on it is that he was drunk and didnt mean what he said. Baloney! Alcohol loosens the inhibitions, he said exactly what he really thinks. Being an anti-semite in Hollywood is like being a racist in the rap music business. His ass is grass--he should just quietly retire (and shut up!)
I wonder if Melly realizes his Lord and Saviour was a Jew.

Lethal Drinking or The Passion of the Drunk

1. If the conservatives play the "Chappaquidick Card", then we will counter it with the "Mel Gibson Drunkass Church Nazi Card".

2. I thought that if Mel Gibson gets so fucking drunk that he will be speaking Aramaic (that or in tongues).

3. I think he drank too much "blood of Christ".

I'm waiting for the religious right to say something about this incident.
What if the deputy had been Jewish?
You know this is going to get sanitized and blown over by the usual suspects.

These are Mel Gibson's true colors. Malibu is rife with crashes on it's winding,, mountain roads. Stone sober driving is hard enough, let alone when someone is drunk.

Gibson is an anti Semite. This incident didn't happen in a bubble.
The sheriff's and LAPD encounter drunk and stoned celebrities all the time.
I don't think they should get a pass because of their status.
Gibson could have killed himself or someone else.
The seriousness of his crime, let alone his anti Semitism, should be shouted from the rooftops.

Count on the religious right to say we should be compassionate and feel sorry for Gibson's 'troubles'.

I'm no admirer of Andrew Sullivan, but he's done a good job of birddogging Mel Gibson for the past few days, even including a facsimile of the arrest report which records Mel making a smell. Sulllivan links to a old column by--of all people--Charles Krauthammer nailing Gibson when "The Passion of the Christ" was first released.

Krauthammer noted that the movie was stuffed with all kinds of anti-Jewish scenes that appear nowhere in the Gospels. (Such as Satan working the Jewish crowd when Pontius Pilate asks them which prisoner to release.)

I'd like to think that Mel is ruined, but I wouldn't count on it.

As we have seen with George W. Bush, Americans are infinitely credulous in wanting to believe that their heroes can do no wrong. Even when the facts indisputably show them to be morons and/or bigots.

Mel Gibson is a human being like everyone else, the whole "I am a saint and my dad is too" thing was part of the publicity of the movie, just like the campaing from Dan Brown to the Da Vinci code.

Whoever has studied scripture knows that nothing in the Bible is literal! The scholars know it and historians know it... so Mel is having now to answer to his claims of virginal behavior!

Hutton Gibson, Mel's father has been known to pontificate on how it was impossible for so many Jews to have been cremated because of how much fuel it takes to burn a human body.

He can't believe that 6 million Jews were EVER cremated, just 'relocated'.

Hutton and son are fools.
You'd think those thousands of bullet riddled bodies piled like chord wood in mass graves would tell them that indeed, not ALL the 6 million Jews were cremated.
But they were killed...

I find it interesting that when Mel bashed the gay community, no one batted an eyelash. Now that he is bashing the Jewish community, it's a public outrage. I know, one is as bad as the other, but to the general public it seems fine to be a gay basher.

As a Jewish person, who happens to be gay, I can only respond by saying that Mel Gibson has always been kind to me, to the Jewish community, and to the gay/Jewish community. He has not appeared to be anti-semetic, and has always been respectful to those around him--regarding of their ethic, racial, or sexual orientation. I believe that the alcoholic personality was talking, and not Mel Gibson.

As a human being, Jewish or Non-Jewish, I do not take offense to an otherwise gentle-and-kind Mel Gibson.
