(Porno Pete)Porno Peter LaBarbera is up to
his old tricks. The head of the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) will unveil his aptly named "Love and Truth Offensive" on July 15 to insult and harass participants in Chicago's Gay Games.
However, it is clear that Porno Pete is the one playing the gay games, as he once again finds himself in a homosexual den of iniquity. This anti-gay leader has regularly gone "undercover" at S&M leather balls, circuit parties and porn palaces. Now, he plans to conduct what he calls "informational outreach" in front of a Chicago gay bathhouse. The rest of us call what he is doing twisted voyeurism.
IFI kicks off its truly offensive "love and truth" campaign with a press conference on Saturday at the Congress Plaza Hotel in Chicago, featuring a former lesbian, Linda Jernigan, and Greg Quinlan, a re-closeted homosexual who claims that he was once a "homosexual activist" with the Human Rights Campaign.
Interestingly, I worked at HRC for five years and nobody had ever heard of Mr. Quinlan - either at the national office or in Ohio. It appears that he is either falsifying his credentials or his role with HRC was so inconsequential that it left no identifiable footprint. I would urge Mr. Quinlan to either stop identifying himself as a former HRC official or prove that he was once part of the group. (Licking stamps once as a volunteer 20 years ago doesn't count and certainly doesn't justify making it into the bio)
According to Porno Pete, he is protesting outside the Steamworks, "where men go for anonymous sex with other men," because they are an official sponsor of the Gay Games. Yet, there are dozens of other sponsors - and Porno Pete decides he MUST picket the tubs. It seems he has an unhealthy fascination with the Steamwork's. He claims that protesting is crucial because "we care about gay men, we will be in front of Steamworks urging them not to engage in destructive and highly dangerous behavior." I don't suppose he will be handing out condoms.
There is no doubt Porno Pete cares about gay men. A few weeks ago, he was at Chicago's Gay Pride Parade. Someone ought to do this man a favor when he staning outside the Steamworks and buy him a membership card so he can join the fun instead of just watching. But, who knows, that might be superfluous, as he probably already has a platinum membership. For the purpose of observing "undercover," of course.

Sounds like he is in the stage called "contemplation" of the stages of change... he aalready acknowledge his LOVE for fudgepacking (by hand, apparently)but now he needs like a little push. Maybe any cute reader of this blog can do charity work and show Pete the "joys of gay sex" one (or more) on one.

I predict the crowds on Halsted will likely laugh hysterically at this band of loons. . .but one would think that is Miss LaBarbera was organizing this huge ex-gay-for-pay testimonial festival, she would have been able to muster more than a couple of the "hundreds of thousands" of "victims" of homosexuality these charlatons claim to have saved.
I vote that some big muscle leather daddy walks right up and plants a huge passionate kiss on the lips of Ms. LaB. . .while we take pictures and send them to all the media.

Incredibly BOTHERSOME.....most of the comments here are as crude as Porno Pete's creepy leather bar fetish. This is not good. You are what you EAT SLEEP AND DRINK and it seems to me that Pete's got a problem and how clever of him to disguise his addiction as research. Pete the jig is up ...we can all see you! Lest they forget....
Steamworks collects ID cards (driver's licenses) when guests enter -- and stores the info on their computer system. So, any employee is privy to some pretty interesting data....
The conservatives are teaching us all how to effectively and maliciously leak information and never have to take responsibility for tit. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before some folks at Steamworks get pissed off enough to start queerying some names -- and Pete and his pals are revealed as the total frauds they truly are.

And anonymous - No, we are not just as evil. We would be just as evil if we were constantly screaming that they need to be re-educated, put into "love" camps and reprogrammed, have statutory laws and constitutional amendment passed restricting their rights, and invading their neighborhoods offering them salvation from their "unwanted" heterosexual and/or evangelical feelings. We would be evil if we encouraged violent attacks on them as they left their churches, threw moral insults at them when they go to work, attempt to prevent them from purchasing or renting homes, and throw tantrums if they wanted to have a picnic in the public parks.
We've shown amazing restrained - in fact, more Christian-like conduct than I've ever seen from the Right.

While I understand the "non-violence" rethoric, I think that the way the oppresor wins is when you lower your guard.
The "religious right" screams because they thing they are right, but we know that specimens like la barbera (spit) are full of sexual repressed desires and only want everyone to be as miserable. That is wrong.
How many of us have has sex and affairs with married "straight acting" guys? how many of those long for the lips and the body of a man? Go to any mall or place where the "daddies" are walking around with their families, and you will see the level of hipocresy and cruising. Is that what la barbera (spit) advocates for? for unhappy and disatisfied men and women? I think that is evil!

Gay is not an insult, and, if anyone go to gay stablishments in regular basis, expect that person to be identified as one, no way around it. Only guys with a real sense of sexual orientation are confortable with difference.
Regarding the -lose- way that the word "ministry" is ised, I think that using christian believes to promote hate is far from been a ministry, is more like a campaing.

Bottom line, hypocracy needs to be exposed. Maybe some of the posts have been nasty, but it's a defense mechanism. I disagree. If you look on most any internet forum, you see foul language, blatant racism, threats of violence and sexual inuendo, (sp?). It's a part of the general public, not just the gay public. Perhaps it's the worst of human nature, but it's human nature none the less. When people are attacked, they tend to counter attack. Do you expect gay people to take the high road more often than straights? It gets very tiring at times to walk that high road, when the road under the bridge seems so much more level.

(AgapePress) - The president of the Illinois Family Institute (IFI) says Christians will be countering the upcoming Gay Games events in Chicago with a "Truth and Love Offensive." The Gay Games, a loose interpretation of an Olympics, strictly for homosexuals, will run from July 15 through July 22 in the Windy City.
Peter LaBarbera, president of IFI, says his organization was determined not to stand by and let the Gay Games pass without telling homosexuals there is freedom in Christ. One of the ways the group hopes to get this message across is by involving individuals who have left the homosexual lifestyle and who now minister to others struggling with unwanted same-sex attractions.
"We have three former homosexuals who will be coming to our Truth and Love Offensive," LaBarbera notes. "One is Linda Jernigan, a former lesbian who was in the lifestyle for 19 years and now ... has a website called 'RescuingHomosexuals.org.'"
Also lined up, LaBarbera says, is James Hartline, whom the IFI spokesman describes as "a wonderful former homosexual who is rooting out the corruption in the gay community in San Diego," and Greg Quinlan, "a former gay man who runs the Pro-Family Network in Ohio."
Others taking part in the Truth and Love Offensive include local church members, who will be present at the Gay Games, handing out bottled water and tracts and talking with the athletes and spectators. The purpose of all these efforts, LaBarbera emphasizes, is to show homosexuals that Christ offers hope and that no one has to be "gay."
The Illinois pro-family leader is hopeful that, through this outreach, people at the homosexual athletic event will encounter people reaching out to them in love rather than condemning them. Unfortunately, he points out, some groups claiming to be Christian have confronted homosexuals with a very different approach.
"The message that Fred Phelps has -- you know, the 'God Hates Fags' message -- is erroneous and it's not Christian," LaBarbera asserts. "We know that people like that will be out at the Gay Games," he says, "and so we're trying to come out with an articulate response."
Also, LaBarbera notes, several former homosexuals will be involved in the effort, taking the opportunity to testify to God's deliverance from the dangerous, homosexual lifestyle. The IFI spokesman believes that by sharing the good news of Jesus Christ at the Gay Games, they will be able to confront many people with the truth about homosexuality in a way that will both demonstrate love and offer them hope.
1. There is no 'truth' or 'love' in the Truth and Love Offensive, but it will definitely be offensive. In LaBarbera's little world, "love" equals ostracizing.
2. What is LaBarbera's definition of "freedom in Christ"? How about "freedom from LaBarbera's bigotry"? Even Jesus wouldn't agree with Porno Pete's little piece of cow pie. Also, "Rescuing Homosexuals"... yeah, as in 'rescuing homosexuals from the evangelical bigots like Porno Pete.' One more thing, LaBarbera is not a messenger of Christ, along with many other homophobes. The good news of Christ cannot repel homosexuality.
3. What about those who left the heterosexual lifestyle? All the bigots do is degrade those who left the hetero lifestyle while luring homosexuals into it.
4. James Hartline IS the one corrupting the gay community in San Diego. When the gay community was established in Hillcrest, the neighborhood is now improving. Unfortunately, Hartline is trying to stop that.

James Hartline is out of his mind. I know alot of ex-gays who when they first became ex-gay were so extreme that they became humble in not so pretty ways.
