One would have thought that a much greater priority would be to help with transitioning out of irresponsible heterosexual promiscuity, the cause of the fearsome rates of AIDS in some African countries.
Where are the posters asking heterosexuals to consider whether marital infidelity is God's design for them?

I think one of the reasons that we call certain people "ignorant" is because they have not travelled down the road of enlightenment; i.e., they have not experienced the failings of their ignorant beliefs. The people who promote the "ex-gay" idea are ignorant to the core, because their experiences are primitive. Many of us, especially when we were teenagers, sought to change our sexual orientation.
Many years of failure taught us the truth, that we should value ourselves and who we are, that our sexuality is precious and is that part of us which enables us to love another human being. Sadly, the truth of that experience is unknown to many. That lack of knowledge and experience is what makes these people ignorant. As the years go by, the more honest amongst them will see the results of their "ex-gay" campaigns and will, hopefully, embrace the truth that most of us on this board have come to realize.

Paul Lawrence Dunbar wrote a moving poem called "We Wear the Mask" It begins, 'we wear the mask that grins and lies...'. It's about not being able to show your real emotions. Be a human being. Your hurts and igdinities endured without the other who imposes it on you none the wiser.
Maybe you can Google it. It's about being black, but for anyone in a minority ever thought of as less than human, can relate to his words, even so.

Yes, Anonymous at 8:04. Nonetheless, as we see on the NARTH site, they are trying to "spin" homosexuality into a major - or even THE - concern regarding causation of AIDS. Honest of them?

If you are not born gay, then you are not born straight either.

That's right - you are born. And who cares if you are straight or gay - or exgay??

This ad is disgusting! It amounts to a worldwide program of genocide against Gay people. Killing us off doesn't work, so now they want to brainwash us out of existence. And some of these so-called Christians even know about the verse in the 19th chapter of Matthew, where Jesus Christ talks of "eunuchs who have been so from birth." Their hatred of Gay people is so intense, they'll even ignore the scripture they claim to take so literally.

Religious and secular quacks have been trying to make gays 'go straight' for generations now without success. (Yes, there are always a few marginal cases that get trumpeted as though they were typical. Even these typically don't pan out; e.g., John Paulk.)
It is not clear where that poster comes from, but in many African countries gays hardly need encouragement to stay closeted. Public attitudes are typically dreadful; partly because of culture, partly because of Christian churches and political demagogues (e.g., Robert Mugabe) who whip the populace into anti-gay frenzies. Why is the church always on the side of the Nazis and not the Jews, and of the gay-bashers and not gays? Why ask why, I guess.
