Ex-gay leader Chad Thompson is the number one phony in the entire "ex-gay" movement - and that is quite an honor considering the company he's in. Chadwick wrote the book "Loving Homosexuals as Jesus Would," but in a speech at University of California Santa Barbara, he seemed to welcome the elimination of gay people if a gene that determined sexual orientation were discovered.

"I think it would be cool if a gay gene were discovered. Then God would get more glory whenpeople are changed," Thompson said.

Sounds like Thompson would "love" gay people right out of existence if he had his way. In the speech, he also tried to sound loving when he said, "Christian media shows homosexuals as demons...gay media shows Christians as [hateful] people, and both of these lies create tension between the two sides," Thompson said.

Wow, Thompson sounds like the voice of reason, doesn't he? Too bad the lying sack told a Christan audience in Macon last Fall (I was there) that "demonic influence" can not be overlooked when diagnosing homosexuality. Well, Chad, maybe the Christian media is demonizing us because you have personally promoted the idea that we are infested with demons.

Not only does Chad dress like a slob and look like he needs to take a bath - he also speaks out of both sides of his hypocritical mouth. While I respect the sincerity of some ex-gay leaders, Chadwick can't seem to keep his story straight and specializes in telling different audiences what they want to hear...talk about a man who lacks any core beliefs!

If God put the 'gay gene' there in the first place why would Thompson want to get rid of it? Just think of all the creativity and unique sense of humor that would be lost to the world if this 'gay gene' were found and eliminated. Besides, I thought the rapture right didnt believe in eugenics?! Their hypocrisy is endless! And you're right Wayne, he does look like a scivoso brutto!

If Thompson needs an example of why some Christians are thought to be hateful people, he need look no further than his gay gene remark. To put this into perspective, replace the word 'gay' in his remark with any term descriptive of a person's characteristics or beliefs. Do you see it? Is there any doubt of the nature of this kind of remark?

I wouldn't trust any of the ex-gay speakers, but I agree that Chad Thompson is something special.

Where is that discussion on ex-gay watch where he popped up in the comments for a while to dispute a technicality (something he'd done, if I remember correctly) and kept twisting his words and insisting on his version even when it was clear as day he was full of it.

That was the point where I started to wonder, dude, can you even hear yourself lying?

Wayne, I've been following some of your work for a while now and I do appreciate what you do for the gay community as a whole. I respect you a lot, but I believe that resorting to attacking Mr. Thompson's appearance cheapens your side of the argument substantially.

Before being too critical of Wayne's style, keep in mind that his intent is to communicate outrage. So it shouldn't be surprising that his commentary is visceral and often provocative. I know when I read many of Wayne's commentaries that I come away with one very clear realization: the man is outraged and thinks I should be also.

I'll tell you who Chad Thompson is. He is the stupid New Age version of a "Christian" Hitler!! Anyone, who thinks that by manipulating the very essence of what God has created is somehow "doing God a Favor," has to be revealed for who he is. I can seriously hear the Hounds Of Hell laughing at the absurd actions by "Christians" caused by one of their own. This is really upsetting to me. I am Jewish and I have smelled this hatred before. And it reminds me of a scripture, 1st. Timothy 4 1-6:

I can't know for certain what Paul was referring to about "forbidding marriage" in the "latter times" but if you put even just casual thought to it, the only people forbidding
marriage, are HYPOCRITICAL LIARS, such as HAGGARD and THOMPSON who claim to be Christian.

Thompson is a piece of shit. You know what I think? We have too many sniveling gay activists who are now the right's apologists. They want us to be nice the the poor ex-gays.

Exactly why should we kiss the ass of people who compare us to child molesters and who say our love is not natural?

It seems that too many of the new anti-ex-gay activists are hurting our casue. They are still a bit brainwashed from their days in the ex-gay ministries. So, they make excuses for the opressor in the name of being nice.

These people ought to learn how to be real activists or get out of the business. Creating change requires more than smiling and being nice to your opponent. Sucking up to them does not make them respect you - it makes them laugh at you and think you are a dupe.

So, Wayne, keep kicking ass. I have noticed that those who attack you have not accomplished a damn thing for the movement. Exactly how many leaders have they exposed? What have they done but bitch?

I'm a queer student at UCSB. In the interest of intellectual honesty, having been at the event I believe that this statement was taken out of context.

The topic of the immutability of homosexuality had come up (ie, the gay gene, biological reasons behind homosexuality, etc) during the Q&A session I think; someone had challenged the part of Chad's talk where he tried to refute the idea of homosexuality being innate or immutable (Chad believes his own homosexuality was a result of his environment). Either that or it was *during* that part of his talk where he was talking about the "gay gene" and he said that statement as sort of an..."oh by the way here's a related opinion."

Chad is someone that strongly believes in the...effectiveness of ex-gay ministries, that for many it really does work, and he expressed this. Chad said that he believes that the power of Christ is necessary for this change. These things being said, what he meant by that sentence, in context, was that for the people who are in ex-gay therapy/ministry who claim to have changed, if homosexuality is genetic or otherwise biological in its nature then this just strengthens the idea of the healing power of Christ. In that sense it was primarily a statement about his faith.

What Chad *didn't* mean was that he was looking forward to us finding a biological basis or cause for homosexuality so that a "cure" could be made. In fact Chad expressed during his talk that gay people whom have embraced their identity have a right to do so and that he wasn't there to try and get them to change.

Looking over the article in The Daily Nexus (our school paper that this quote of Chad's comes from) as I write this, I think the paper may be to blame for the misinformation as they don't really explain the context of the quote.
