A Berkeley watchdog organization that tracks military spending said it uncovered a strange U.S. military proposal to create a hormone bomb that could purportedly turn enemy soldiers into homosexuals and make them more interested in sex than fighting.

The documents show the Air Force lab asked for $7.5 million to develop such a chemical weapon.

"The Ohio Air Force lab proposed that a bomb be developed that contained a chemical that would cause enemy soldiers to become gay, and to have their units break down because all their soldiers became irresistibly attractive to one another," Hammond said after reviewing the documents.

With our brightest minds dreaming up gay bombs, is it any wonder that we are having a difficult time in Iraq? But the ultimate stupidity comes from the notion that the newly gay soldiers would have sex even while they were being shot at by American troops. Even the horniest soldier would likely be more concerned with the cruise missile flying at him than the hot guy to his left. Carpet-bombing B-52s always has a way of killing the mood.

A better idea: please use the Gay Bomb against the fundies! See how fast they all come shrieking out of their enshrined closets. Wonder what hymn could go well to accompany the outed fundies in their sexual onslaught: maybe Onward (Outward) Christian Soldiers (it is after all a militant hymn!)?

Maybe it was an sinister attempt to discredit Gays in the military thereby upholding DADT. Maybe they should explode the bomb in the GOP and the ex-gay ministries.

Robert, I have come to the conclusion that people will simply never really "get it" when it comes to gay people. I do believe that we will achieve equal rights under the law, but people's attitudes will always contain a degree of misinformation. For me personally, the focus has become more of "how can I live my life best" while being amongst a society that is half-baked on these issues. America isn't "terrible" on gay issues by any means, but we will never reach the Garden of Eden that many of us, deep down, dream of.

Chris, thank you. I admire your belief that we will eventually win our rights, but I think its going to take many years, probably decades since very few democrats are for full equality. The biggest obstacle is the federal government which doesn't seem to be working in our favor when you look at Massachusetts wherein Gay marriage is only recognized at the state level. Its quite a sad commentary that only one state offers marriage but with limitations, and only four others offer Civil Unions, again with limitations and 27 states banning marriage equality. In this respect, I think America is terrible on Gay issues. We are the last vestige of hatred, the group that everybody loves to hate and villify. The only reason the presidential candidates are talking to us is that there's an election coming up in 2008. Where were they ten years ago? Why do they keep taking our votes for granted without delivering anything once they're elected? So they're going to eradicate DADT? Big deal. That one issue alone wouldn't curry any favor with my vote. Its not good enough. We deserve far more than that and we shouldn't have to keep reminding them if they were truly supportive of our equality. I'm so sick of them all and this dumb society too.
