Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) has absolutely no shame. Only several weeks after what still appears to be the fabrication (or remarkable exaggeration) of a hate crime, the group is at it again. According to Ex-Gay Watch, PFOX volunteer Greg Quinlan tried to accuse the publisher of the Falls Church News Press, Nick Benton, of starting a confrontation - when he simply asked Mr. Quinlan for his name, so he could accurately report on the PFOX booth at the Falls Church Fair in his newspaper. (I write a column for the News-Press)
According to Benton, Quinlan of the Ohio Pro-Family Network, responded to his request with a bizarre outburst that can only be explained as seeking a "incident."
"What's the purpose of this?" shrieked Quinlan. "You've created an altercation here. You look like the guy who accosted us in Arlington. Do I have to call the police?"
Where does PFOX find all these wackos? As they say, birds of a feather....but more importantly, it is fair to say that this can't be seen as an isolated incident. This is at least the third time PFOX has imagined persecution or blown a small incident way out of proportion. I think it is reasonable to say, by now, that this appears to be a strategy.

If Quinlan is an alledged ex-gay, why doesn't anyone ask him why in fifeen years, he's never had sex with a woman, let alone have an ongoing relationship with a female? Something not right about that. He made this admission of celibacy on the Lionel Show several months ago. He's one angry,unhappy, sad example of someone like Larry Craig in denial.

Quinlan also repeatedly lies by saying he worked or volunteered for the Human Rights Campaign. He did neither. He is a fraud. I have been involved with the group in Ohio and no one has ever heard of him. Maybe he licked stamps once a decade ago and that makes him an "employee"?
What a sleaze and a loser. I challenge him to come forward with a pay stub from HRC - or additional proof he played the significant role he now claims. What do you want to bet we will never see that pay stub?

Isn't Quinlan married? I thought I read his testimony somewhere (on a pro-family site) that he is married to an ex-lesbian.

Ken, I listened to him on the Lionel Show on Air America back in July I think it was. The host asked him if heis now straight to which he replied that he'd been celibate for 15 years. When asked why so long, he said he'd never found the right person, whoever that may be. Who knows what this guy is about, I think he tells so many lies he can't distinguish what is true or what is not. He found the gay "lifestyle" (hate that word) and had lost many friends to AIDS and concluded it was not a particularly good way to live and not a healthy one at that. Underneath, you could hear a lot of anger and defensiveness when the host posed questions to him. He's still gay as far as I'm concerned, he can protest all he wants.

Quinlan's response was that he'd been celibate for 15 years and had not had a sexual experience with a female, nor had a girlfriend All I can say is, he was very defensive and very angry at times. His decision to become and "ex-gay" was that he'd seen what the ravages of AIDS had done. He admitted having a number of sexual partners but he that an unsatisfactory and unhealthy lifestyle. My take on it is he's still gay and just can't deal with it. Denial comes in many forms.

Robert in NYC I don't doubt you when it comes to Quinlan. But as I said he has stated he is married.
An excerpt from a petition sent around by Quinlan four years ago about same-sex marriage that I found at Ex-Gay Watch.
As a former homosexual, I can honestly tell you there is no need to change the definition of marriage, because homosexuals can change. Tens of thousands have made that choice, and many are now married with families, like me.
This wasn't what I was looking for but I seem to recall when he went before a state supreme court (sorry don't remember what state) he introduced his wife that was there with him. So if he is saying that he has been celibate for 15 years then he lied about being married and is using it as a way of promoting and advancing the ex-gay cause. Sad.

Ken, that was my point, he was lying about his marital status. Why say he's celibate for 15 years if he's married? If he is, which I doubt, his marriage is considered by some denominations to be null and void if its not consummated, easy grounds for an annulment if he's catholic. That's the problem with these socalled ex-gays, they don't know truth or reality but have a firm belief in denial at their own expense. They need to take care of their own hetero supporters whose marriages are in trouble with the amount of philandering going on, David Vitter being a classic example of the hypocrisy.
The day they come forth with overwhelming evidence supported by sound medical or scientific research then maybe they'll gain some credence. I'm now holding my breath for a an ex-straight ministry to emerge, now that would be interesting.

As another commentator said online regarding the whole "reparative therapy" sales drive, "The best way to counter claims of lack of scientific evidence, is to produce scientific evidence!"
I saw the PFOX table at the Falls Church fair. I saw a lot of people stopping by the PFLAG booth, but no a single person stopped by the PFOX table the entire 1/2 hour I was there.
