A couple of days ago, I posted a humorous video about a young Australian teenager who threw a party when his parents weren't home. The video is innocuous as it is silly and very enjoyable. Still leave it to the right wing to take something innocent and sexualize it - the perverse, immature sickos that they truly are. That is exactly what weirdo NARTH therapist Jim Phelan did, by posting on his blog the headline, "Wayne Besen Glorifies Pedestry." [sic - yeah - Phelan can't spell]
Now, exactly what did I do to earn this slice of sexual McCarthyism? What did I say to get tagged with this disgusting smear campaign? Well, absolutely nothing. I simply posted this video seen by more than 100,000 people and one that has become a hit on YouTube. But, I guess that is all it takes for the unprofessional crew at NARTH to try to slime their opponents.
Have you ever seen such a desperate and dysfunctional batch of quacks in your life? It is bad enough they have no scientific credibility, but unfounded personal attacks, such as this, also call into question their moral integrity. Phelan ought to apologize and then seek immediate professional help (Not from a NARTH therapist). It is increasingly clear that he may not be well and deserves our full support and sympathy. I hesitate to even name Phelan - as he has no real scientific profile, is unaccomplished in his field and has virtually no readers on his vanity blog. However, such sleazy and untrue attacks must be answered. After all, people like Phelan believe that if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes a fact. We are not going to let that happen.

This Australian "Best Party Ever" video in question is truly hysterical and has already become one of the classics! On msnbc last evening, they reported that it's now NUMBER ONE WORLDWIDE. It was even on Huffington Post last week, too. Everyone's having a good laugh at that brat's attitude as he responds to the meddling anchorwoman.
I guess it would be expected that when we gay guys found it interesting just like everyone else, all of a sudden its all about sex and "pedestry" (sic). What a great example of a truly offensive, bigoted, morally-repugnant example of false witness. This has obviously come from a profoundly disturbed individual with a darkened heart.
And Wayne, you're right...you simply posted the video without any text. Ironically, it seems to have acted as a sort of ink blot test, which is funny, because what Jim Phalen saw was sensual in nature. That little tidbit of fact becomes even more interesting when you realize that Phalen is a supposed ex-gay. Sure, Jim, you're ex-gay. Funny how your sexual antenna went right up when you looked at the young 15-year old Aussie in question.

He's assuming you are a pederast because you didn't delete one guy's bawdy comment?? Apparantly, in Phelan's world, you need to delete every comment that disagrees with your views. But if bloggers all did that, everyone's blogs would be like Jim's, Randy Thomas', and Doc Throc. Truly the definition of a vanity blog.

I have to agree with Phelan that your motives behind posting pictures and videos is clearly evil. It drives me nuts that i find this guy (Phelan) kind of hot as I do Tony Perkins, and to a certain extent, even Porno Pete. You are clearly doing this to torment me because I know that since I don't have anonymous sex in porn shops and public toilets, my chance of ever connecting with any of these guys is zero.
Wayne, your article is very informing and i identify with your frustration. I do want to thank you though for making me realize once again how pathetic these idiots are. I am sometimes unable to be objective when i am feeling it persoanlly and this makes me laugh because it is so utterly pathetic. I hope that you can see this is so rediculous it is somewhat funny. Let me also say i am grateful you keep on top of these whackjobs and post it for everyone to be aware of these misguided angry annoying monsters. More importantly is that you give voice to those that are seeking acceptance of themselves so i am glad that you continue.

Dude, I made the "bawdy" comment about you digging that cute-ish Aussie guy. I was just poking fun. My friend uses the word "hawt" all the time and I think it sounds silly.
And no, you didn't say anything Wayne to imply that's why YOU personally posted the video. Duh, that's why it was fun to poke fun at you.
But even if you had, the guy in the video is hardly a little kid (nor is Wayne an old man). Why is it straights can oggle at hot barely legal chicks and it's perfectly normal?!?
Phelan's reaction is expected, he's a nutball. Nothing that idiot says surprises me. I'm more concerned with the queers here who insist it's "homophobic" to imply that a rebellious Aussie with his shirt wide open and his nipple pierced might be remotely sexy (by the way, not sure about Australia, but in the U.S. you have to be 18 to get your nipple pierced).
You're not going to "win" the approval of homophobes by "behaving yourselves" and acting like prudes. If Wayne had posted a picture of puppies sleeping, a sick jerkoff like Phelan would have found a way to twist it into something. The sooner the queer community understands that the better.

It takes a truly stupid person to pull something from the public comments section and imply it is the opinion of the author of that blog.

It was good of you to come to Wayne's defense. I'm a big fat queer GIRL, so I'm not going to find a cute MALE aussie w/ his shirt open and nipple pierced attractive. nor am I saying that Wayne completely disagrees with you posting the comment and that you are complete contrary to him. But every wacko who reads this blog and the commentary needs to understand that there's a difference between the author and the commenter. I find it pretty unbelievable that anybody who has a college degree can't discern this difference. I was wrong.

I agree that we must feel bad for this character. Clearly, he has a major screw loose and is also missing a chunk of gray matter in the logic department. He thinks he is witty and wise - but he is just a horses ass.
Since there's no such thing as an "ex-gay/sexual re-orientation therapist", why is this guy even allowed to run around with that title in the first place (same goes for the rest of those quacks)?
And I agree, Felon has some major problems with sexualizing a 15 year old boy. If his blog title for this "article" isn't projection, I don't know what is. That's why they become "ex-gay therapists" - in hopes they get boys, not men, to....."change". Who do those guys think they're fooling? Wolves in sheeps clothing, and con-artists to boot.
