Chris, exactly my take on it. No idea. These people are clearly insane! I don't get what the attraction is to this cult among Hollywood stars. John Travolta is another by the way.
But then, the insanity is also found among the christo- and islamo-fascists too!

A few months ago I went to the Scientology website to try to figure out what Scientology IS, and I couldn't get any information that answered any of my questions. I concluded that any person or organization that shrouds its beliefs/practicies in secrecy does so for a reason, and it's definitely not a good one.

I imagine this guy driving past an accident and, feeling REALLY empowered by his religion, and thinking he is god's gift to the universe, gets out of his car and starts meddling with the situation, rather than calling real paramedics. He grabs the car accident victim (who would be better off remaining still until a medical team with a gurney arrives...), he wrenches them out of the car, breaking more of their bones. He flops them out onto the ground, jumps up on the top of his car and yells out triumphantly: "Grrrrrrraaaaawwwwrrrrr I'm a hero!!!!!"
