On Tuesday, Oklahoma County Commissioner Brent Rinehart was booted out of office by voters in his district, finishing third in a three-way primary. Rinehart came under scrutiny this month when he mailed a 16-page cartoon book as part of his re-election campaign that makes fun of gays and criticizes his political opponents. The book featured an angel who supports Rinehart and Satan, who supports his critics. It also included a gay man in a toga chasing a Boy Scout.
Rinehart is set for trial in September on several felony campaign corruption charges. He is accused of circumventing state campaign finance laws by having donors give money to a political action committee formed by his campaign manager, promising those funds would be used in his quest to be elected county commissioner in 2004. Rinehart is Exhibit A of why the right wing is losing power. They are corrupt and then hide behind the Bible when they bamboozle the public.
Goodbye Rinehart. I guess you'll feel better about your crushing defeat knowing it was God's will.

Its interesting, almost every politician caught in corruption scandals resorts to the bible when trying to sway public opinion on "morality" issues, and it begs the question, why is it almost always a republican? What is it about them that causes so much hatred for one specific group in particular?

I agree. These people pick god up like a magician takes a rabbit out of their hats. what i love about this is that this creton said that he cannot blame those for giving up the good fight insinuating that the gay agenda is so overwhelming that he cannot fight it on their behalf. He remained in denial right up until the end. As i have heard before, this gives him the time to prepare for his legal defense on criminal allegations. Maybe he will say god told him to do it.

Straight white men have always been susceptible to being made to fear for their very survival by cynical politicians who exploit them for political gain. McCain is trying to employ the same technique this time around, although he's doing it subtly. In about three months, we'll see if it still works. I sure hope not.

OMG! those cartoons (the style and text) look amazingly like the ones that some local nut job has been leaving in our public libraries and mailing to people who write letters to the editor with whom he disagrees. He has also been sending them to some high ranking (democratic no doubt) politicians and now the state police are trying to track him down. They feel this kook may be dangerous. He has been leaving this shit and defacing our newspapers in the public library where I work, off and on for several years now. We think we know who it is, but cant prove it yet. I hope the police can nail his ass. In 04 he left one on my car because he saw a Kerry bumper sticker and he left one on my co-workers car because she has a bat-girl decal on the back. There's nothing wrong with a person who sees things differently - but when you start calling names you are lowering yourself to a level that is crude.
Some of the gays here name call in much worse terms and they are crude. Do you want to be known in that same way? As crude?

And whether or not you're gay, anyone with an above 5th grade education would have been offended by this poor attempt at wannabe-Nazi propaganda.
At least the artwork based on Goebbels' propaganda was pretty ominous - and STILL creepy to look at. The comic Rinehart sent out was just ridiculous and laughable. I can't draw worth a shit, but I bet I could do better than THAT! LOL

Yeah Old Timer, we're whiners just like McCain's henchman Phil Gramm called the American people who are losing their homes, jobs and life savings whiners; losses due to his and the republican party's policies like the Enron loophole, which gramm was instrumental in pushing through.
