Melissa Fryrear, the clownish so-called ex-lesbian from Focus on the Family who cakes on make-up, pretends to have crushes on red headed men (although we've never had a report of an actual date) and admits that she is "not the sharpest knife in the drawer," has changed the term "ex-gay" to "post gay" in Focus on the Family's latest newsletter.
In the letter, she describes the process of becoming post-gay:
"Thus, for any feeling, thought, belief, identity, behavior or action that is not characteristic of and resembling of the Person of Jesus Christ, God's intention is to change it so that it is." (sounds like brainwashing)
Of course, Fryrear admits that her ministry has the potential to cause great damage, saying, "It is a process - often a very long, difficult and painful process."
Actually, it is a destructive dead end. The people who throw their money at charlatans like Fryrear do go through the painful process described, only to find that there is no light at the end of the tunnel. This exacerbates the pain and can lead to depression and self-destructive behavior.
I'm not sure why loneliness, pain and depression qualify as "post-gay."

Post-gay? Please.........more about denial than anything else. Are there any straights who have "converted" to a gay orientation, would they describe their lives now as "post-straight"? Absurd to think people actually believe they can change their orientation. They may opt for a celibate life but they still remain gay. Where are the hundreds of thousands of converted gays, how many are married with children, how many are single and how many are dating and having an active sex life with the opposite sex? Where is the evidence? Why aren't they coming forward in droves to make the claim they are straight? Notice the very few who do almost always refer to religious beliefs, scriptural quotes....all brainwashing if you ask me, damaged goods for sure. One of the biggest fraudulent scams ever. They should all be shut down. Its about making money and exploiting vulnerable people, nothing more.

I wonder what marketing research led them to this decision and what they hope to gain by it.
Actually wasn't there some crappy 90's postmodern gay writer who used the term in some hypothetical scenario? I vaguely remember something like that.
Maybe that's the case, and the ex-gays are trying to coopt a term made up by a real gay person, that way they can claim we are the ones who came up with it?

It just so happens that Fryrear happens to be amongst those whom you dislike and so you would attack anything she says - even if it changing into a more christlike person is what most christians worldwide will say.

I think the name post gay comes from the growing discontent that many gays and ex gays have around the word ex gay - since it doesn't really describe the experience. Got to give her kudos for trying out something new - no one else has stepped forward from that group to change that word.

Again to the writer who talks about divorce because Jesus was not married - please read the bible. Jesus supports marriage, as well as Paul etc... And divorce is not acceptable.

If people really find that word so offensive, they can try "same-sex attracted" on for size instead I guess.
