Yep, that's a damn good reason.
I don't think this will ultimately hurt his career, his popular music is generally secular. But he did make a big deal about being a Jesus worshiper... There's going to be fallout from Christians, and a lot of hate mail.
I'm not really a fan, but those of you who are out there should maybe send him some kind words to offset the likely bigoted response he'll be getting from the Christian right.

Yes, it's nice to see him doing the right thing for himself. Such is evidence of a healthy self-esteem. Personally, it would be over my dead body that I'd hide who I was just so I could get crumbs of phony approval from the tables of religious fanatics. I am happy for this man.

Hit timing is good. I am all for people rising in their respective careers staying closeted until they have amassed a large and growing fortune, and then at the right time coming out. We as gays are well served having the wealth move to our side. Wealth gays can promote our cause in ways that regular folk can't. Not to say the regular folk don't do a lot, they do plenty, but wealth has it's privileges and influence in the upper circles of society.

It's about time.
Sadly some are already clamoring about how he "can't" be both gay and Christian. Funny how we never see them claiming one can't be both divorced and Christian, or an adulterer and Christian, etc. Just one more way they prove their campaign has nothing to do with Biblical values and everything to do with intolerance.
