There are many things one can fake while running for president. Knowledge on the economy during a meltdown is not one of them. John McCain has admitted he does not know very much about this arena. It is clear by listening to him, that he offers nothing constructive or substantive to the debate on fixing Wall Street. His early statements were brash and unpresidential. Then he suspended his campaign, which was a publicity stunt that backfired.

McCain is trying to steal the spotlight, but also run away from its glare by fleeing the first debate. He is afraid to talk in-depth about the economy because he does not have the necessary training. McCain can't talk coherently about something he does not understand. I think it is obvious that he is buying more prep time to bone up on his greatest weakness. But, do we really want a president who prepares for debates by reading, "Economics for Dummies"?

Ethan is as delusional and quasi-retarded as mccain and palin. McCain is afraid to debate Obama because he knows how inferior he is to him in every way. According to huffpo, mccain has already declared that he won the debate (now he thinks he can see into the future). At the 'big meeting' on the economy yesterday mccain didnt say a word for 43 minutes!!! Shades of My Pet Goat--upside down! Obama was one of the first to speak and gave a very detailed and cogent plan about how he would deal with the economic meltdown that was caused by rightwing republican policies. The interview between palin and couric was an absolute joke!!! Palin is so clueless, even Nancy Drew and Miss Marple couldnt find her. And did you see the video of palin's african minister praying over her to protect her from WITCHCRAFT!!!!!!! This is the same nutball who drove a woman out of town in Kenya because he thought she was causing fatal traffic accidents with WITCHCRAFT!!! Couric or somebody else should ask Palin if she's ever read Maleus Maleficarum and how has her church preprepared her to hunt down, persecute and protect the nation from WITCHES! Will we have a gitmo for them? Witchmo maybe!?!? If I were a republican, i would be hanging my head in shame and embarrasment at these 2 pathetic losers they have for candidates. Now be gone ethan before one of us drops a house on you. (Those ruby slippers in your walkin closet wont help either).

McCain had no choice in not attending to his responibility in showing up for the Ole Miss debate, after a 5 million dollar investment into the debate by the debate planners and the folk of MISSISSIPPI. But it is amazing that McCain and his the campaign folk were quick to inject that the OBAMA-McCain debate could have easily bumped into the PALIN-BIDEN debate slot. McCain's folk saw the 9 point spread, called for a distraction and thus the wonderful 'suspend the campaign, suspend the campaign' call came out.
Oh and your star, Ms Palin, continues to show her stellar attributes.

And again, ETHAN, tell us more about you. . . how transparent are you willing to become?

After watching the debate last night, there were no real winners. Obama missed a golden oportunity when it came to the economic crisis, ergo McCain's direct link to the Keating 5 debacle and his continued support for deregulation. The only change McCain will affect will be "short" change...on Main Street. More of the same failed Bush policies. I'm against the bailout period. If it were you or me and our business went belly up, we wouldn't be bailed out by any bank or government program. McCain and all the deregulators should be thrown in jail. Putting Paulson in sole control of this deal is madness....no oversight and prone to more fraud and corruption.

What I found the most telling was the fact that McCain never looked at Obama, not once during the debate. It had racist overtones, as if, 'how dare this uppity boy challenge my authority when he should be carrying my golf clubs'. And every time Obama said something he didnt agree with, McCain got this grinchy silly smile on his face like a psychiatric patient whose meds were wearing off. Despite ones politics, I found McCain's behavior and body language offensive and very UNpresidential.

By comparing Sarah Palin to Barack Obama, you mock both yourself and your candidate. Everyone, even Republicans, now acknowledge that Sarah Palin is totally and obviously out of her league. Her interview with Katie Couric, for example, was a frightful, unmitigated disaster.

Barack Obama is a refined, deliberate, thoughtful, philosophical, logical, substantive intellectual with an outstanding, multi-dimensional grasp of issues both domestic and foreign, the first black to lead the Harvard Law Review. His writings and conversations reveal a depth and familiarity with concepts both simple and complex.

But only an imbecile would attempt to claim any similarity between Senator Obama and Ms. Palin. Even the conservative National Review has issued a call for Ms. Palin to step down "for the good of her country." She is an embarrassment, not only to herself, but to Senator McCain and, indeed, the voters of this country.

Granted, Ethan, he did better than he ever has but alarmingly he mispronounced Iran's Prez's name and mangled Georgia's as well plus any others not spelled SMITH. He forgot that he had said he was not elected as Miss Congeniality and repeated the line, then added he was a maverick. Aha! That should qualify him. Oh, I forgot he is 72. He is entitled little lapses plus he would make a very ugly Miss Congeniality, but a fair representation of the Ugly American as seen through the lenses of the rest of the world.

What we need in this country is a vision for excelling in the 21st Century with interconnectedness with the world, not someone quoting Ike, Reagan and George Schulz, talk about being mired in the 19th and 20th centuries and the Cold War! I think the only one promising us anything different in that debate for the future is Mr. Obama. McCain has nothing new to offer. Name one new initiative, please.

As for Palin, she is the gift that keeps on giving. She makes former VP/Senator Dan Quayle look positively intellectual. She is an embarassment to the American people (here think Indira Ghandi, Ms. Markle, Golda Meier, Benazir Bhutto, Chile's President Michelet - - - and we come up with Sarah Palin, who got her passport last year?) except that we have lived under the aegis of another bimbo for 8 years. Are we so used to the bimbo (mimbo?) politics that we are afraid to be challenged into being the successful country that we should be working towards a thriving economy, medical care for everyone, affordable college education, decent living wages, a fair tax code for EVERYONE, resolved immigration issues, freedom from energy dependence and LESS MONEY SPENT IN SABER RATTLING AND A WASTEFUL WAR AGAINST THE WRONG PEOPLE? If anyone has forgotten 4,000 American dead and over 100,000 Iraquis dead - - - and what has America gained?

I'm not happy that my taxed may go to bail out failed banks but if this bailout does'nt happen it will have a HUGE drastic devastateing effect on all of us, busneses who depend on banks will not be able to get loans to stay in operation, jobs will be cut 1000 times more then they already have, we could end up with a depression that mirrors that of the 1920's America will become a thrid world Country in a few months time, Forget about gay rights or equality if this Market callapses,it will be Armageddon.I'm gay and a democrat

Gary, I noticed that too, McCain couldn't look him directly in the eye and did you notice how at the end of the debate, Obama warmly touched McCain's arm and shook his hand, but McCain looked askance...what a cold fish he is, doesn't exactly exude any warmth now does he? It was clear he was uncomfortable but obviously wanted to appease the evangelical based fundies and racists alike. There were no clear winners although I think independents will see that if you're expecting much change from McCain, think again. He voted as Obama said, more than 90% of the time for Bush's failed policies, policies which McCain supported. A leopard never changes its spots.

Chris, lets hope Palin doesn't step down. Let her further embarrass the party, it will only draw more independents away from McCain. She's an airhead. Do her supporters really believe she can debate foreign policy with Biden? You have to be naive to even think it. She will prove to be an albatross around McCain's neck, let her continue to do so.

Lets hope the National Enquirer proves the following story to be true as it did with John Edwards.

John McCain's camp even threatened legal action for the Enquirer meddling, but that didn't stop them, thankfully.

So what did the Enquirer discover?

That Palin did have an affair with an individual named Brad Hanson!!! That's her husband's former business partner. They were both married at the time and according to reports, three members of Hanson's family have already sworn - one by affidavit - that Palin and Hanson were having an extramarital affair!

Hanson owned a snowmobile dealership along with Palin's hubby, Todd, who got rid of the partnership after hearing stories about the affair, which allegedly took place back in 1996.

Despite denials from Palin and Hanson, Jim Burdett, a Hanson family insider, has opened up about the family's secret and even passed a rigorous polygraph test in an effort to reveal the truth - that the affair did take place.

Burdett says, "I've known about Brad having had an affair for a long time, but it wasn't until just recently that I learned his affair was with Sarah Palin. Sarah was elected mayor of Wasilla, Brad became a city council member in the nearby town of Palmer, and they started an affair. Todd found out about the affair and was so mad he broke up their partnership at the snowmobile dealership."

Another source, who's remaining anonymous but has given a sworn affidavit as well, is saying, "Todd was away on business a lot and Sarah felt lonely. Brad was a good listener, and Sarah talked to him at length. Eventually, she realized she was falling in love with him. When Todd got back from one of his trips, Sarah told him that she had begun to have feelings for Brad."

CRAZY!!!!

Wonder how the McCain camp is going to try and cover this up?

Cindy McCain better watch out. Palin might try to take her husband as well!

His contemptuous attitude toward Obama was disgusting! It reminded me of white clerks in the old days who wouldnt touch the black customers' hands; just put the change on the counter and let them pick it up. Such good "christians" you all are---NOT!!!!!

The CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey, conducted shortly after the debate ended, showed 51 percent thought Obama, a U.S. senator from Illinois, did the best job, while 38 percent said Republican opponent Sen. John McCain of Arizona won.

And almost all of the things McCain accused Obama of have now been backed up on video to prove otherwise. Classic neocon lies, smears, distortion and distraction, anything to avoid telling the truth. McCain couldn't even ackwnowledge that he supported almost all of Bush's policies, instead he goes off on a tangent to distract and avoid the obvious. He's nothing more than a liar and a total fraud. I'd love to see Obama call him out on LGBT issues during the final debate, and ask him if he believes that LGBT citizens deserve equal rights if it claims to be the party of inclusion and to name one piece of legislation that the GOP has passed in favor of women's and LGBT rights over the past 40 years.

new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll shows 46% of people who watched Friday night's presidential debate say Democrat Barack Obama did a better job than Republican John McCain; 34% said McCain did better.

Obama scored even better -- 52%-35% -- when debate-watchers were asked which candidate offered the best proposals for change to solve the country's problems.

The Palin/Biden debate is on Thursday. THAT should be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised, however, if she withdraws before then. Then the 5 days later the next McCain/Obama debate on Tuesaday. Gallup has Obama ahead 50-42. And now, stories are surfacing about McCain's gambling problem...

Palin will of course not be able to respond to certain specifics that Biden might raise, instead she will parrot the script she's been given repeatedly as she did in her first interview with Charlie Gibson. Lets hope she forgets some of her lines that Uncle Henry and Uncle Karl have written for you.
